Launching New Blog Endeavor
May 13, 2009 Filed in: personal | spirituality
My blogging history thus far has always been more about the experimentation with the technology than trying to garner an audience or following. Since 2002, I have tried my hand at blogging in some form or another. In the last couple of years, I have used my personal blog to focus on the topic of technology and design and how these two intersect. My blog interface has actually seen some traffic (68,000 hits thus far) over the last year with my focus on the Kindle and the iPhone. However, the frequency of my posts have been sporadic at best as I have only blogged when I have made the effort with my personal time outside of work. Lately though, I have felt compelled to make a more concerted effort towards a semi-professional blog in a more meaningful genre. I use the word “semi-professional” because it remains to be a part-time, unpaid endeavor that I hope can grow into a multi-author blog that can draw in a consistent following. So, I am using my personal blog to announce this new blog endeavor that I have launched as of late last night:

My plans for this blog are not only to solicit additional regular and guest authors, but to include more than just blog posts. With any amount of success, I plan to add a semi-regular podcast and occasionally throw in some video content as well.
The idea for this blog came to me when I challenged myself on why I do not personally blog about my faith or my beliefs. Have I been afraid of sharing them? I came to the conclusion that I am more afraid of being misunderstood than I am about sharing my belief system. I have been afraid of being stereotyped into one of many labels that are conjured up in the name of Christianity. Most of these labels bring about an unfair characterization of what it means to be a Christ follower. As I thought through my fears and thoughts, I came up with the idea to focus an entire blog on these concepts as there are seemingly a vast pool of misrepresentations and mischaracterizations of what a Christian is and is not. Hence, Controversial Christian is born. Check it out and let me know what you think.
